Lucy Batham-Read
At 32, Lucy Batham-Read walked away from the male-dominated world of IT management, burned out after 15 years of constantly justifying herself—to herself. Now, 23 years and three children later, she has found a new way of living—one that allows her to be a mother, wife, friend, and, most importantly, happy within herself.
She has come to understand that our nervous system plays a crucial role in well-being, as does truly knowing our own mind and body. Her philosophy is that everyone has the potential to live their best life, but to do so, they must discover their own personal boundaries and learn how to manage them. Just as importantly, they must identify their "why"—the driving force behind their life choices.
Lucy is particularly passionate about helping children develop self-awareness early on, believing that understanding what makes them feel at home in their own skin—and what truly excites them—equips them to navigate life's twists and turns with greater ease. If they learn to trust themselves they also find that life meets them half way and they live well and thrive both personally and professionally without selling their soul. Sometimes its about getting out of our own way and trusting life just that little bit more than we fear it whilst still be willing to fail a few times along the way.
Since leaving IT, she has reinvented herself in various ways: as a wellbeing coach, an NHS worker supporting teenagers in crisis during COVID, a PA for a celebrity, and, most recently, a qualified practitioner in Auricular Acupuncture.
Today, she lives in a picturesque farmhouse near the Sussex Downs with her husband of 30 years, their three "boomerang" adult children—Ella (26), Kit (24), and Wilf (20)—and their two much loved dogs, Wellington and Toffee.
